Right to Information

In a bid to ensure greater transparency and tackle the regime of information asymmetry the Right to Information Act was enacted in the year 2005. This was subsequent to the Indian Judiciary having read the right to information within the ambit of the fundamental right to freedom of speech and expression. The enactment definitely brings us one step closer to the realization of the goal, but what remains to be seen is the efficacy of the legislative framework and the implementation mechanism.
